The World Boxing Council and Nevada Community Foundation are pleased to announce the opening of the 2018 grant cycle of the WBC José Sulaimán Boxers Fund. WBC President Mauricio Sulaimán and the WBC Board of Governors proudly continue the legacy built by WBC Lifetime President (RIP) Don José Sulaimán in supporting retired boxing heroes who have fallen into hard times.
Thanks to the continued generosity of WBC-affiliated organizations, promoters and several other generous individuals and entities, notably TelMex TelCel Foundation, as well as the tireless service of the Fund’s Selection Committee, the Fund has awarded approximately $925,000 to boxers in need through 5 annual funding cycles and numerous off-cycle exceptional circumstances cases. Administered by Nevada Community Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization based in Las Vegas, Nevada, the Fund will award as much as to $10,000 (U.S. dollars) per awardee during the 2017 grant cycle.
The Fund will accept applications for assistance from July 25, 2018 through August 31, 2018. Applications must include all requested supporting documentation, to be mailed or emailed to Nevada Community Foundation by August 31, 2018, in order to be considered.
Retired professional boxers who face significant immediate financial need are encouraged to apply. For questions and assistance, please contact your local WBC federation or affiliate. Questions may also be directed to Nevada Community Foundation at:
